US government plans to double available wireless spectrum

President Barack Obama has signed a memorandum committing the US government to the goal of making another 500 MHz of spectrum available in the country by the end of the decade – nearly doubling the total amount available for wireless technologies.

Aussies release larger than expected digital dividend

The Australian government is to release 126 MHz of analogue broadcasting spectrum as a digital dividend, which is 54 MHz more than harmonised EU proposals and 22 MHz more than neighbouring Asia Pacific countries.

O2’s spectrum refarming appeal could set legal precedent

The decision by O2, acting independently of the UK's other mobile operators, to appeal to the Competition Appeals Tribunal (CAT) in an attempt to get immediate permission to refarm its 900 MHz spectrum appears to have put both regulator Ofcom and the new coalition government on the back foot.
